Privacy policy

How we look after your details when you order or ask us something.

Who we are

The Giftees is a small home business run by Deepa Verma in Uttar Pradesh, India. We make gifts and festive hampers and take orders on WhatsApp. For the personal data you share with us, we are the “Data Fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act) and the rules made under it.

The short version

  • This website has no accounts, no cart and no online payment.
  • The forms on this website do not send anything to us. They open WhatsApp with your message filled in, and nothing is sent until you tap send in WhatsApp.
  • We use your details only to reply to you and to make and deliver your order.
  • We never sell your details or use them for advertising.

What we collect and why

When you message us on WhatsApp or by email

Your name, phone number, email (if you email us) and what you write to us, such as the gift you want, the quantity, the date you need it by and your gift message. We use these to reply and to confirm your order.

When we deliver a gift

The delivery address, and the recipient’s name and phone number. We use these only to deliver the gift. If you give us someone else’s details, please make sure they are happy for you to share them.

When you pay

Payment happens in your own bank or UPI app, not on this website. We only keep the payment confirmation, such as a UPI reference number. We never see your card details, bank login or UPI PIN.

Corporate enquiries

Your company name, work email, the quantity and budget you have in mind and any branding details. We use these to send you a quote and make your order.

Basic visit information, such as the pages you view and your type of device. See our cookie policy for the details.

Your consent

When you send us a message, you agree to us using your details for the purposes above, and only those. You can withdraw your consent at any time by telling us on WhatsApp or by email. We will then stop using your details and delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before, but we may not be able to finish an order that is still open.

Who we share it with

We share only what each one needs to do their part:

  • The delivery partner who takes your gift to the recipient (name, address, phone).
  • WhatsApp (Meta) and Gmail (Google), which carry our messages.
  • Our website platform, Lovable, and its security service, Cloudflare.
  • Google, which provides the fonts and the tag manager used on this website.
  • Government or police, only if the law requires it.

Some of these companies may store data outside India. Their own privacy policies also apply.

How long we keep it

We keep your details for as long as we need them for your order and any follow-up, and for as long as Indian law requires us to keep business and tax records. After that, we delete them.

How we keep it safe

Only Deepa Verma handles orders. The phone and email account we use are protected with a screen lock and two-step verification.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you, how we use it and who we shared it with
  • correct, complete or update your details
  • delete your details
  • accept a person you nominate to use these rights for you if you die or are unable to

You can also raise a complaint with us. Contact us using the details below and we will reply as soon as we can, within the time the law allows. If you are not happy with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This website is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to order for you. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Messages from us

We will message you about your order or enquiry. We will not add you to broadcast lists or send you offers unless you ask us to, and you can ask us to stop at any time.

Other websites

Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, LinkedIn and Google Maps take you to their websites, which have their own privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
